From the mouth of babes

What started this post was my search for a safe yet enticing gift for my 3-month old nephew - Soothing chomps for teething gums.

I thought it would be better to get a rattle that is also a teether... a 2-in-1 item because when he would outgrow one, it could still be relevant as the other.  But not just any kind - it had to be an eco item.  Well, of course!! Since aunty here is promoting the green lifestyle.. and this would be my chance to start the unsuspecting kid (and his parents) on the path to greater greenness.

free of nappy rash, sans diaper cream

Along with diapers, most mothers will need a couple of kilos of
wet wipes and diaper cream, all of which will add on to expenses. You can use appropriate baby balm instead of diaper cream.  But as I found out after getting lazy, even that is not necessary because there are no effects on the baby's skin even if you don't use balm.

I simply pop my son under the tap, rinse him off and plonk him
in a new diaper and he has never had a rash. Because I rinse him, I don't even use wet wipes much either.

And diapers come in such funky designs, you don't even need to cover baby up with pants so you save on clothes.  My son strolls around in diapers and singlets like a little Sylvester Stallone!

For my first born, I had never heard of cloth diapers. I used the traditional cloth nappies for as long as I could stand washing them but because it was such a nuisance and since they were almost immediately wet upon being put on, I gave up. For my second one, I had come across an article in the papers raving about the wonders of cloth diapers and was intrigued.

Until I had done my research, I had no clue how damaging disposable diapers are not only to the baby, but to the environment and yes, my bank balance

Mums can go green with baby food

Every morning, working Mums wake up and prepare breakfast, send
babies to the babysitter, drive to work, get stuck in the traffic jam and the list goes on.......

When we arrive home after work, our life as mother continues.
The last thing we want to think of is preparing food for our growing toddlers.  Messy and time consuming, homemade baby foods are often not the choice.

Ready-made baby food replaces the need to chop and grind, which cuts the time of preparation from 15 minutes to 2 minutes. Yes, preparing food is technically time consuming. However, as we are the one who prepare the food, we know what the ingredients are.
